I love talking to Ms. Copenhaver. She told me she misses me being her stage manager.~ And when I expressed distress over us not being ready she said to remember that Poe wasn’t finished until opening night. And I told her that if she did come to our show, she would be bombarded with hugs, and she responded with “I’ll remember to wear deodorant ;-)” October 23, 2012 at 8:45 PM | Post Permalink | 4 notes

Clark is amazing. <3 “Genetic power is far more potent than atomic power. And it will be in everyone’s hands. It will be in kits for backyard gardeners. Experiments for schoolchildren. Cheap labs for terrorists and dictators. And that will force everyone to ask the same question—What should I do with my power?—which is the very question—science cannot answer.” ~Michael Crichton, Jurassic ParkFirst of all, I don’t think that genetic power will be given to the masses in quite the way that Michael Crichton suggests, especially in regards to school-children. Just because the people become more knowledgeable about a subject does not mean everyone will get to partake in it. Genetic power is very serious, and I would use it to remedy genetic illnesses. Science cannot answer what the power should be used for, because the answer to that question requires an analysis of what is right and wrong, which is exactly what science has never been able to do. What is the purpose of education, and how does one person become educated? Is a broad-based liberal arts education to be preferred over a specialized pursuit of the sciences? The purpose of education is to gain basic skills necessary for everyday interaction and problem solving, as well as expelling general ignorance from those being educated. One becomes educated through a process that involves specialists sharing their knowledge, and experiencing the world for him- or her-self, picking up unorthodox lessons along the way. I think that a broad-based liberal arts education is to be preferred over a specialized pursuit of the sciences simply because it gives a broader foundation for which to learn more off of. Open HouseAh, open house. I remember my past open houses. 9th grade, Matt came and we held hands while we walked everywhere with my mom and my hope teacher made fun of us because of that one time i was doodling a heart in class for him. 10th grade, Matt came and met Jones and Copey AND COPEY SAID WE LOOKED LIKE BROTHER AND SISTER OMG and I also went to Matt’s that year. Last year, Adrian was supposed to come, but his mom told him no because she had stuff for him to do but she didn’t come home ‘til way later so he could have gone and I remember he was real pissed about that because it would’ve been a chance to see me, and he told me he’d go with me the following year… This year it was just me and my mom.
