Abbey road (April 24, 2014)
driving home the heat seeps in through the cracks of the doors
and I impatiently wait for the cars in front of me to come to a stand still
and the green lights to catch on fire
so that I can perch the new literary journal
atop my decaying steering wheel
and I find myself wishing for elementary school buses
that would taxi me without fare or gas compensation
and I could put my knees up on the melting blue plastic in front of me
and lose myself in a series about vigilantes turning into animals
but no now I have to catch glimpses of a struggling writer in Buffalo
losing her spine whenever she gets up to walk away
between following cars that drive eight miles under the speed limit
and dealing with those who expect me to anticipate their impromptu turns
and yay the next red light has arrived
so I lift up my journal again
but something in the top field of my vision catches my eye
a movement of some kind
it is a burned out cigarette bud
with the wind pushing it across the crosswalk
and I cannot help but smile as I imagine
that the tiny tan cylinder is aspiring
to be George Harrison
or John Lennon
we are all dreamers
He doesn’t like posing for my pictures.
Volunteered today at a booth at the fair at Good Shepard. We were the very last time slot, so we got to help tear down the booth. Had an extra half hour. Walked around with Genesis and Jason and Brian and Garrett. No money. Ran into Burke and Franco. Jason gave me a potato ball. Got me some mardi gras beads. Fun. <3
I love how he sits in the back seat of the car with me, and how he always goes for my hand, pretty much first thing. I lovelovelove it. Or how when he starts walking away, he holds his hand out behind him for me to grab. That boy. Mm mmm mmmm.
Today was actually really amazing.(: Right after I got home from school Derrick drove me to the park where I met up with Adrian, who was awaiting with a basketball. We walked to the basketball court and he started teachin’ me ball, yo. It was so cute. He knew his shit, brah. Apparently, I wasn’t as turrible as he expected, and I improved, and he’s proud of me.((: He taught me to dribble and shoot and take two steps and then shoot and I can’t take the ball from him while he’s dribbling, but I sure as hell can be defensive and strip the ball from him. :D We took mini breaks (for my sake) where we just sat next to the hoop and chilled. <3 It was sweet. (: I’m going to miss his facial hair when he shaves it off for Homecoming. Sigh. He brought chewy granola bars for us to eat afterwards. (: it was great. and then we chilled, Alex and Adrian style. Fuck yes. The park’s our place, yo. And then. hehe. Great overall day. (: I love you.
I was pissed ‘cause him and Paige had just attacked me with tickle-ing.
